Hi All,
I have noticed, all of a sudden, if I search Airbnb for an area, without specifiying dates, it no longer displays a headline price for the listings it returns. You now HAVE to specifiy check-in and check-out dates to see a price. This looks like a new policy of Airbnb. Could anyone else confirm?
I get a pretty regular number of a views on my flat daily... so far the net effect of this new policy has been I've not had a single view for 36 hours or so.
Seems a slightly disasterous policy becuase often casual travellers aren't sure of their travel dates... so they search an area, see a price & picture they like and browse, maybe add to wish list etc. Now they can't do that. They have to specifiy dates which would exclude anything not strictly available on those dates.
Any thoughts anyone?
TIA
I think with so many new listings this is just another desperate tool how to play with search visibility.
I noticed a couple of weeks ago that host pictures and superhost badges had disappeared from the initial listing pages. They are only visable once you have opened the particular listing. A couple of days ago the prices disappeared and in their place was a statement that hosts often have different prices for different dates. Yesterday, the prices returned but this time it states 'prices from'. Host pictures are still absent. I have always held to the saying 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' What was wrong with the original displays?
@Sharon114, I really like the ''prices from''. Better than lowest price, only to find out how much it can be which seems to guests we are trying to rip them off. This is an excellent change, v happy with it. Not the rest thanks.
I'm seeing prices when I do a search without dates. Even in London.
My bookings dropped off suddenly in November. I haven't been at the end of a month without a booking since I began a year and a half ago. Seems like either the market is saturated or Airbnb has made their fees high enough that it deters bookings. I'm moving to another platform this week and dropping Airbnb if they don't provide a reasonable reason why no one is booking anymore.
