I use a electronic lock and give them the code upon arrival.

I ageee. I love my lockstate resort lock!!

if you find yourself forced to mail keys then you can set to give you at least one day or two days  but I don't think 3 days may be an option.  see

We put a physical lock box by the front door and give the guests the code the day before they arrive.

It's worked well for us thus far.
