Im finding it quite difficult to find a difinitve answer on this.
When you block off a day in the calendar, does that mean a guest cannot check in on that day or does it mean a guest cannot stay on that day.
In context, if you are planning to be away frmo Saturday - Monday, you may block these days off as you wont be around to check anyone in. When viewing properties in the search, ywould your property still show as aavailable for a 3 night stay with a checking on the Friday for example?
Hope thats makes sense and I appreciate any light you may be able to shed on this.
If a day isn't available, i.e. blocked out, then no, it isn't available in any sense, for checking in or staying on.
Try not to think in terms of "days" in this industry. It's mostly about nights.

You have to think of it as "nights" not "days". So if you are going to be away starting on Saturday and block Saturday, no one can stay Saturday NIGHT (from check in time on Saturday to check out time on Sunday)
If a potential guest is looking for a 3-night stay, Friday to Monday, with Saturday "night" blocked, they will not see your listing because one of the 3 nights they need to stay is unavailable. However, if you are leaving at say 8am on Saturday, you would want to block off Friday (night) so no guest is still in the home until check out on Saturday - which in your case is 2pm.
BTW - how do you handle a guest checking in at 10am when check out isn't until 2pm?
So far we have not had any back to back bookings. So we always have at least a day between a check out and a check in. We really only accommodate one booking a week.
There is no way of doing what you would like to do, for example I would like to avoid check ins on a Tuesday but do not mind people staying here who arrived earlier.
The only way you can do this is to go to "availability settings" scroll down to the very bottom to "add another requirement" and put in the specific weekend you want to be away and nominate Friday as the arrival date with your minimum 2 or 3 nights for that time period. Not sure if this is what you are after but for the particular example mentioned it should work.
Enlist the aid of a friend or set up a lockbox with keycode for 24/7 check-in. You can enjoy time away and still have paying guests! Any day you block off really refers to that night's stay.
When you manually block off days, those days appear as unavailable. Or they don't appear at all. As a host, You have the option to switch from blocked to available. In your scenario no one can check in from Saturday through Monday. That's my understanding and experience I hope this helps
a lot depends on your check in and check out times:
in your scenario, you coming back on Monday, what is your specified check in time? if it is early but you will only come back Monday late, then you need to block out Monday as well. In my case, check in is 3 pm and lets say I can be back by 1 pm, then I don't need to block out Monday because I am ready to host at 3 pm.
same with check out times: if my check out time is 11am but I really need to leave myself at 8 am, then I need to block out the day/ night before, lest I be rude and let the guests know they need to leave earlier - not good! or, if you are comfortable with guests coming and leaving without you being present, then you just work out a specific arrangement with them.
PS: as was noted above by someone, your check in time starts at 10 am, but your check out time is 2 pm. Sooner or later this will cause you a problem, when the new guest comes early... no time to clean, and the old guest is still there? unless you have it specified that there will always be a day between your bookings
you for the heads up. We only manage one booking a week so dont have somebody coming in the same day someone has left. hence the quite generous check in time.
