Frontline & Superhost Status - Payments for Covid-19 Cancelled Guest from $250M Airbnb Fund

Has anyone received any compensation from Airbnb per Brian Chesky and Airbnb to reimburse Hosts for covid-19 cancellations?

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I have received 2 payments so far.

Really! That is great.  Did you need to apply or fill out anything?  Did Airbnb contact you? Guess that is where I am - not knowing if I need to be doing something, or just wait.  Also they have the two payment programs -- the 25% for those cancelled reservations and the aid for Super Hosts, which did you get?  Thanks -- stay well.

I received payments for cancelled April bookings.
I didn't know there is 'aid' for Super Hosts. Where did you get that information from?

Not me.  I sent an email to see how the process was going as the dates indicated in his posting have either passed or are coming up soon.  From the requirements they list to qualify, it appears I would but haven't heard anything.  Nor have I had any first responder inquiries, but I wondered who those people would be? In Dallas there has not been a call for outside assistance.

Only $134 😞

Hello Kevin,

I received a payment last week from Covid-19-Airbnb fund.

Unfortunately no, we are still waiting for compensation for cancelled reservations in March.

We have a moderate (5 day) cancellation policy.  Seems like if we had a no cancellation policy, we would have been in a better position to get compensation for all our lost reservations in March, April, and now May.

But Airbnb encouraged us to loosen our policy.  Way to look out for the hosts!

ha, this is why i also called the superhost line today: i also have the 5 days flexible cancellation policy, as i think that is most fair to travellers. And.. then i read something from the communication of airbnb better and i was shocked!

I really expect 25% of my not earned money for february, march, april and may. Im still waiting for the email..

Its my income. And.. i registered my b&b immediately at the hospital OLVG in the neighbourhood for caregivers.

Hello Kevin  not a penny and I have the feeling unless hosts  had a cancellation policy set to “Strict” at the time of the original booking they’ll use that as an excuse not to pay out the 25% of the original payout. As for the $5000 to superhosts for more than a year or four times time will tell and if they’ll move the goal posts on that one.

We have our Cancellation set at "Strict". The 25% that Airbnb says it will pay out is only a calculation of what one normally would receive after a guest cancels which is  typically 50% of the nightly stay if cancelled 30 days+ out. We've lost $14,000+ of bookings so far and our projected payment notification from Airbnb for the March & April cancellations amounts to $550. We did not qualify for the $5000 grant because we have 1 House, a Guest Room and two RV trailers, which exceeds the 2-listing max requirement.

At least they are helping, other platforms are doing absolutely nothing!

Yes, but other platforms only recommend at least 50% back which I felt is fair.  Plus, if Airbnb  asked the guest to pay the other 12.5 %, it would not be as big of a burden the hosts that may be out of a job and have no form of income. They did not force full refunds with out asking the hosts too.

I have not received any well. Based on the last update they will be issuing more.
