Guest is a different person from the registered one

Hi all,

Yesterday, 10 hours before the check in the guest let us know that the he is not the one staying at our place but instead two other guest we do not know nor have heard from up until the day of the check in.  The actual guests are two young girls and I honestly dont know their age nor names.

I dont know what should I do about it.

I want to mail about it but I would like to have some support on the airbnb ruless on this matter.

Anyone can give me an advice?

Thanks in advance!

Stephanie

It's is againts the terms of service to make third party bookings unless it's for business travel.  I would insist they cancel and let the person that booked know that they are they only person whom you'd check in.  Was the booking for one or two guest?

It sounds as if you've already aloud them to check-in? If so I think you may be stuck with them, just hope nothing goes wrong as I don't think Airbnb will cover you in this case

@Stephanie-and-Sebastian0  You absolutely need to Contact Airbnb about this, as third-party reservations are not allowed.  I would also let the guest who booked know this and let him know you will not allow the girls to check in.

@Stephanie-and-Sebastian0

What's important to know is that since Airbnb does not allow 3rd person bookings, their host insurance also doesn't apply.

As suggested by @Cynthia-and-Chris1 you will need to solve this directly with Airbnb, best call them directly. The Amsterdam no. is linked directly to Ireland and I've never had to wait long to reach them.

Additionally to @Kate223's comment, only businesses with a business profile are allowed to make 3rd party reservations.

Also, if you decide you are okay with hosting the girls that arrived, you can arrange with Airbnb that they help one of the two to make their own profile to take over the booking for 2 people. If they are not 18 yet, then they will have a problem since under 18 can't book, but not your problem.

And it's also not true that YOU have the problem of being stuck with them as Kate says. But you will have to do this together with Airbnb

Thank you all!

I contacted Airbnb.

All OK

@Stephanie-and-Sebastian0  Would you mind sharing the solution so others that come across this post will know what to expect?

I have the same problem - person who is verified notfied me after the booking that another would be checking in. I asked for details of the person but have only the first name, no photo. that she is moving from Melbourne, is a "friend" of the person who booked for her, at a conference with him in Sydney and is an IT professional.  I offered to meet yesterday to discuss and/or for her to call me but she didn't.  He has booked for her to stay a month from 2pm today. He is from South Africa but I don't know even whether his friend is legally in the country, has a job or intends to be here fulltime or what she is doing in Sydney/why she is moving from Melbourne or anything about her at all (including no surname).  I have just read that Airbnb insurance doesn't cover me and am wondering what to do? Can anyone assist? She may turn out to be OK but am concerned as I am in my senior years/alone in the house and had used Airbnb as it provided verification and security of people booking in.  Does anyone have a telephone number for Airbnb in Australia? Many thanks for any suggestions, Karen Sydney

@Karen474  NO third party booking with Air BNB unless it is a verified business traveler with a registered business booking agent.  If you accept this unregistered guest expecting any of the Air BNB policies will apply  you will be disappointed.  Call Air BNB now and explain the issue.  Get their help.  If you want to work with the traveler under a private contract, you could but not through Air BNB.  Spending a month under these circumstances would give me anxiety as well

Here is a link to the community guide for contacting Air BNB including phone numbers.
