Guest left damages, airbnb not repsonsive

I had a guest in July who caused damages of several 1000 USD in my flat. As he disputes parts (but not all of it), I involved airbnb via the resolution center IN JULY, with NO REPLY. A few weeks later I sent them a separate message with all deatils, again no reply.

It says in the guest's profile his identity is verified, but if airbnb doesn't give that identity to me, I can't sue him. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do? I called airbnb and was told someone would get back to me, samesame. It's ridiculous!

As Iw as new to hosting, I did not ask for a financial guarantee (because in the step for step setup, this is not an option, one can only add it later manually; little did I know, thank you again, airbnb).

This is  a really bad experience, airbnb is a great platform and I've travelled a lot using it, but the company itself seems utterly indifferent to help hosts resolving issues?!!!!

Any tips welcome how I can get a reaction from this company.

Thank you

Jan

I guess the only person to answer your question would be the very same one who just wrote in his lengthy-ish post that Airbnb is littered with hosts and so on...

The truth is that Airbnb tries to avoid responsibility for such guests. Sorry to say, but it's getting out of control imho. So many hosts left with damage done but no damages paid...

Hey, so interestingly enough I am going through this process with airbnb. They were supposed to resolve the dispute in 24 hours. when I go to the "resolution center" I see no way to check on the progress. I believe they "Hold" guest funds of $500 on their credit cards, so I believe this should be easy to process. I can let you know how my dispute goes. It's for something much more minor but still, a guest broke a  door. Come on - that's not ok.

@Anna9908 Airbnb don't hold anything: there is no security deposit. The amount you select as a "deposit" is actually just an amount of money that they guest could theoretically be charged if there is damage, but there's no guarantee it will happen if there is a problem.

Unless the guest agrees to pay for damage, it's notoriously difficult to collect any money.
