Hello everyone,
It is often said how important first impressions are and often when hosting, the first thing your guest will see is the outside of your listing.
Do you spend much time thinking about how to make the outside of your home look inviting? Do are your tips for this? Perhaps you regularly paint the facade or plant flowers. Or alternatively, if you are unable to touch the front of your home, what do you do to help welcome your guests.
Thanks,
Lizzie

Hey @Kevin940, I've just updated your post to include the @ mention to Huma. If you add the @ symbol and select the person from the dropdown, they will receive a notification of your reply. 🙂

@Kevin940Thank you so much!
Wel, the weeds were something to get on top off in my front garden too. When I bought the house, the whole thing was a mess and very sorely neglected. Out front, there were a couple f rambling roses and a Budleia that had got so out of control the branches were cracking the windows everytime ther was a bit of wind. As for the rest, it was just weeds, weeds and more weeds. It took a long time to get on top of it even though it was a small space.
I was not very green fingered when I bought the place, nor do I claim to be now, but I'm trying!
Aw, I think it is very pretty @Huma0. I particularly like the colour of your door, which picks up the colours in your flower bed. Did you choose the colours here?
I've always wondered if you can read anything into the colour of a door? For example, can a door colour change the mood of the person entering. (Maybe I'm giving too much thought to this....!) 🙂

I think the front of your property looks beautiful. I would definitely be attracted by it. yes of course sunshine makes everything look better but "horrible" it is not.
I love every inch! Rudbeckia? What are the tall plants on the other side? The pink door is a stylish touch and echo of the flowers. And, on a practical note, doen't the lush planting make it easier to find your house? Not that gardens need to have a practical aspect, giving delight & lifegiving oxygen is gift enough. If I ever get another chance to visit London..... Sally
@Huma0 I love your front garden and the front door colour - it looks great. Unfortunately my house, like so many others, is in a terrace which means I have to have the two wheelie bins in the front garden and although they are tucked neatly out of the way, I still think they are an eye sore.
@Lizzie I always make sure the path is clean and also that it is well lit at night. I have a large tub which I fill with seasonal plants plus two window boxes for the sills. I think it's important to make sure that the outside looks cared for as it's the first thing that the guest sees.
@Rachel0 Thank you!
Yes I also have the two large wheelie bins, plus a smaller bin for food waste. They are actually behind the bit of wall in front of the window in the above picture. The plant pots on the wall help to hide the tops of them. So, that is all well and good when you enter the front garden, but when you get to the front door, there they are in plain sight just to the left. There is not enough room to encase them in some sort of wheelie bin shed so there is not much to be done about it.
@Rachel0@Huma
Have you considered putting some decals, or painting the outside of your rubbish bins to help blend them into your gardens?
Unfortunately gone are the days of us all having a backyard fireplace to burn our rubbish and let the ashes disperse into the soils to regenerate it... Ahh Councils and modern age bureaucracy
@Lizzie I have a “Name” of the property decorated and my outside the house turn to be guest spot for their IG photo check-in 🙂
This is my outside, I think a listing that is a house got a benefit for this.
@Quincy Thanks... the house is not just a house, I also use my homestay for shooting my pre-wedding photos 🙂 Haha ... try to make the most of it!
