How to save a love-weekend.

How to save a love-weekend.

You don't always have to do something extraordinary, to improve your guest's experience. You don't have to sacrifice, go beyond your limits, and transform the world, to make something great. Sometimes it is enough to... pay attention. This is a story of how a small thing saved two love weekend getaways.

It was a wintertime. I just got a new booking from Katarzyna, who was planning a lovely, romantic weekend with her boyfriend on May. Soon after I got another booking from Natalia – she was also coming for a romantic weekend, in February. I though "love must me in the air":)

As the days passed by, Katarzyna emailed me once again with an information, that she and her boyfriend can't come on the weekend of their booking. She asked me, if I can offer them any other weekend but with no changes in the booking – she used an airbnb bargain and did not want to lose it. But either she want to loose a romantic, love weekend with her boyfriend...

I said: “Let me think about it, I see what I can do”.

One day later I e-mailed Natalia, as her love weekend was coming soon. She replied me on the same day.

We are not coming, because we broke up – she said. - I've completely fallen into pieces, I cry all the time and I don't know what to do. I've planned this love weekend so carefully: I booked a romantic massage for us, a balloon ride and a romantic dinner – and now it is all for nothing...”

Feeling sorry for her I tried to encourage her to come with a sister on with a friend, but she had no one to come with on that certain date. She gave up and decided not to think about it.

And then I had a thought – why don't I swap these two weekends...?

A minute later I e-mailed Katarzyna and offered her Natalia's date for the love weekend. Katarzyna replied immediately – straight away she and her boyfriend decided to come for their saved love weekend. No matter the February...

Happy with this answer, I e-mailed Natalia and offered her Katarzyna's dates.

Natalia, why don't you come on May, then? You will surely find a company by this time, Krakow is great in the spring and you will be in the better mood to enjoy it.”

Natalia seemed surprised:

Really? Are you offering me a weekend on May? Ok, yes, I want to come! Thank you, thank you for that! You are saving my weekend! Well... it is not going to be a love weekend... but anyway I love this idea:)

Yes, on that sad moment she gave me a smile in her e-mail.

Katarzyna and her boyfriend came on Natalia's dates and enjoyed their love-weekend very much. They loved Krakow, loved my apartment – and even loved that February weather! Love must have been in the air.

And then the May came. A couple of days before her arrival, Natalia e-mailed me. She was coming for her saved weekend... and yes! It was going to be a love-weekend! She and her former boyfriend got back together! This is how their love-weekend was saved.

Natalia and her boyfriend enjoyed their stay very much – even though there was no massage or balloon flight on schedule this time. Well... I thought again: love must be in the air.

Sometimes a small conscious thought is enough to save your guests stay. Be conscious, always.

And you did all this without a listing?  Amazing!

@Clare0, spoilsport, you wanted to check the reviews? But saved me the bother. I was thinking, why she waited 8 months to tell us all this. 😉

Hey there @Helga0! Wanted to see if she got Super Host status!

Hey @Clare0, such a pity, they do not give it for creativity. But it's a good story for the next Open host awards - it's all about marketing anyway.

Hi,

yes, I've got the SuperHost status, but clearly something is not working, if you can't see it. Of course I've got a listing. I'll try to make it visible, somehow...

I've just got the link to tell the story, after Airbnb Open in Paris. I didn't know about this community before. So this is my profile, you can check my listing and status. I don't know, why the story didn't come from this profile, but I've already reported that.

Thank you for reading:)

@Agnieszka1, it looks like you created the first profile in 2012, never used it and created another one in 2013, when you started hosting. Must have had the password registered in the browser and connected with the old profile.

The story is a sweet story, only with the empty profile it was incredible. From a host profile with so many reviews, it's a credible nice story 😉 If it's verifiable, you should really send it before the next Open, when the start the preparations in about 6 months. It's perfect for marketing purposes. Ans who knows, your two couples may be still together or married in the meantime.

Happy hosting!

@Helga0 you are probably right. I was just trying to use the link from the e-mail, to enter the story for the#AO2015contest, but it never worked. I was trying to reach the help airbnb and notify them about it, but no reply, so far. We'll see if they reply.

Thank you for nice words about my story:) It is a true story, I hope, my two couples are happily together.

@Agnieszka1, there was a time limit for the stories, which was extended after the last Open ended shorter because of the attacks in Paris, but this extension must be finished now too. Besides, you could not send stories without having booked for the Open.

But before the Open, there were contests for host awards. The winners are now on the airbhb website. If they do that again, submit the story in the Summer, so you can compete for a hosting award.

Besides, if you win, they could invite you to the next Open to Los Angeles 😉

They did that with the 2015 winners, if I got that right.

@Helga0 yes, I know that. The new limit for stories is at Janiary 15th (in 2 days). I attended Airbnb Open in Paris, so I can enter the story. If the airbnb help will not reply me until tomorrow, I will just try to enter this story from my right profile.

@Agnieszka1, from which profile did you pay the Open fees?

If you did that from the old one, maybe they can fusion the profiles into one.

Otherwise they can just delete it, to avoid further errors.

Good luck

@Helga0 I registered from my right profile. I hope they will solve the problem.

Thank you:)

Hello @Agnieszka1@Agnieszka0,

Thanks for letting me know about this. I am currently checking with the Stories Team about this, however to be on the safe side due to the time deadline, if it is not too much trouble for you can you resubmit your story through the Submission Form from your Superhost account. I will then make a note on it that this is from the correct profile.

Let me know if you have any further questions about this. Thanks so much. 🙂

@Lizzie thank you for your reply. I followed your advice and posted this story from my original profile - I got the message, that it was posted and now the team is looking at that. A second later I tried to see this story in my profile - and I got this message. I guess I have no luck with this service...
