Imposed occupancy tax in "Special Offers"

Hello, and apologies if this is the wrong place for this question or if it has been answered before. I've scoured for hours looking for what seems to be a straightforward issue.

I would like to extend a special offer to a guest. Doing so automatically includes an occupancy tax on their end. My price already includes the required state and city tax. In fact, the occupancy tax requested by airbnb is about 2 times the actual tax (13%) for the booking. In addition, I have no idea where this "tax" is going, and whether it will be reported to the right city and state (which I do manually every month).

Any ideas what could cause this, and what it is being calculated from? Is there a way to remove this occupancy tax?

Thank you graciously in advance,

.Sean

I am having problems with this too.  I just found out the occupancy taxes that are charged are covering a Florida state tax and another one (discretionary tax) but not the one for my county (Sarasota County, FL).  I would like to know how to charge for this.  I agree.  I don't really know if Airbnb will pay these other taxes even though they do charge for them.
