Is this a scam? Seems suspicious

Received the following message today, 5/17

“hi [my name] my name is [guest name] and I am trying to book your [property] for the 18th to the 21st of may. It shows that I have had too many attempts. I was struggling with one aspect of the app please call me. [partial phone number] I was struggling with one aspect of the app please call me. thx”

just seems odd and my gut is telling me it’s the start of a scam but can’t figure out what the scam might be. I assume asking me to let them book outside of the app?

"too many attempts" is known error-message when trying to verify a phone number.

But as you received already a message ("the inquiry"), that issue seems to be solved.

You can ask the guest via message system if there is still a problem or ask for more information.

Or pre-approve the booking to allow the guest to book.
