Long Term Rental & Cleaning

Does anyone have input as to how I can rent for 1-2 months and handle the cleaning?

This place  is my personal home & after a 7 week rental last year, my cleaning lady

spent a better then average  amount of time cleaning, which is understood---

i.e. Glass shower doors need weekly polishing w/daily showers.

( and the guests didn't clean at all during their stay.)

Can I require they use my cleaning lady every 2 weeks, & who should pick up this tab?

As a host that prefers long term reservations, I would suggest that you include the cost of you weekly or bi-weekly cleaning into your rates, and say all guests must agree to mandatory regular cleaning.

My listing is a private room in my home and I state in my description that I will enter the guest room and bathroom to vaccum, change bed sheets, provide more towels or amenities etc. occasionally. This also allows me to check the state of the room and bath to make sure I don't have a serious problem later.

Also add a couple sentences clarifying what the guest vs. cleaning lady are responsible for. Good luck!

How would we include cleaning fees in our rates for only long term rentals? We do mostly short-term. We offer a discount for long term reservations (as recommended by Airbnb), so that actually makes it even more prohibitive to pay a cleaner every two weeks.

If you do mostly short term, not having a long-term discount won't matter 🙂 I completely ignore ABB recommendations related to pricing - they suggest I offer crazy prices and unreasonable discounts that would make me lose money the more I host.
