Meet AIRBNB LUXE - AIRBNB PLUS' Sexier, Sassier, More Expensive Sister...

"Stays at Airbnb's most exclusive homes could come with a driver, concierge, and childcare"

And you don't get a humble host - you get your very own "Trip Designer"

They should have kept it simple and niche, but they got greedy and thought they were being clever....they are not.

I'm new and I sussed it straight away, i'm using them to gain some experience at hosting.  I plan to rent privately as a BnB with consierge service.  It will come at a price...like all sea views and wine & food experiences.

@Cormac0

Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.. it's like McDonald's trying to sell caviar. 😉

@Cormac0I am with you.  I am in DC and we have so many people doing short term rentals and pricing has dropped big time!    We have even  small apartment building as short term rental and it took lot of long term rentals out.  The scale dopped and gorverment got involved with regulations.  Airbnb wanted  to get bigger and bigger and did not watch what happened around them.

@Pia-And-Ben0

 Airbnb not only watched what was happening around them, they planned it, facilitated it, financed it and implemented it. And now they're desperately trying to hide the monster they created by refusing to separate and clearly identify the regular hosts from the commercial entities on the platform, in defiance of EU Commission orders to do so.

Hi @Susan17

There have been rumours for some time that airbnb is planning on launching an own airline. Sources that I have are telling me, the name of the airline will be Airbnb-Force.

The big thing about this new airline will be, that every guest that flys with Airbnb-Force will be granted a 24h around the clock check in time at the place of arrival. So if an airbnb-guest flys from NY to London and his London host has stipulated a check in time from 3pm to 5pm, this will be superseeded by the Airbnb-Force regulation that he can check in anytime, e.g. 3am.

This is a strong sellingpoint and a feature other airlines cannot compete with.

@Ute42

Lol! And heaven only knows how Airbnb-Force would handle cancellations! I wonder if they'd be so free and easy with the Extenuating Circumstances policy for their airline as they are with our listings? 🙂

@Ute

So now Airbnb is going to exploit their Hosts even further by imposing a condition on us to drive the growth of their Airline, twenty-four-hour check-in.

When are Host going to wake up and realise we're been taken for idiots.

@Cormac0

But Airbnb already sneakily imposes that condition to drive company growth, by algorithmically penalising hosts who don't  facilitate 24 hour check in through self-check in, keypads, lockboxes etc.

Nice catering to the 1%!

We’ve all seen this coming though. Airbnb are running scared. ‘Whole listing’ is where the money was at, a few nights in a lovely room staying in our homes is the nice cuddly concept. The reality it is not making them enough billions.

I can see it eventually phased out as hosts like us have been treated with utter contempt and a simmering  indifference for years now. Especially the last 2 years.

And the ‘entire home’  market is being totally closed down and eroded by restrictions and legislations actually trying to stop host’s from listing at all. London is about to face even more limitations  with this planned ‘must be registered.’ And london was a huge market to Airbnb.

Can you imagine ‘live like a local’ from a few years ago actually has grown into this free for all. Airbnb can’t be all things to all people. There are dedicated specialist sites for the more luxury stays.

A search on Airbnb is now like Amazon! You can never, ever find what you are looking for!

And as if that's not enough, then we also have Airbnb Adventures, with its  Round the World in 80 Days Tours... "80 days, 6 continents, 18 countries. One extraordinary Airbnb Adventure"

They must've hired the Fyre Festival team for this one.... an absolute sh*tshow from the outset....

"This promotional tour from Airbnb to tout Airbnb Adventures clearly backfired because of traveler outrage and difficulties in booking and paying for the one-time trip. It’s not an opportune start for Airbnb’s tour initiative, which may be a tad more complex than Airbnb anticipates"

@Susan17

There is 100% a market for this.

I took a similar  type ‘adventure’ in Morocco. It was amazing.

I booked independently - so many operators once you get to Morocco - but Airbnb just don’t seem to be able to nail any one area? It’s just the incompetence and a basic lack of the fundamental principles of business that I can’t comprehend?

For sure there's a market for it @David6 , but only when done properly, and there are already many, many operators running these types of adventure trips efficiently, professionally and competently. To make any inroads whatsoever into that already well-established market, Airbnb would have to be bringing something bigger, better and bolder to the table. If their Adventures debut is anything to go by, that certainly doesn't seem to be the case with this initiative.

Classic Airbnb - all fur coat and no knickers.

Exactly @Susan17 . As the articles stated: ‘much harder than Airbnb imagined.’

I used a specialist company in Morocco with years of experience & excellent reviews. It was a special birthday trip, so I wanted the best. These occasions hold such significance and importance, if Airbnb have problems or issues, expect the fallout to be of epic proportions. I mean guests complain about a speck of dust under the bed, imagine if a trip of lifetime is ruined by Airbnb incompetence?  I can see the Trustpilot reviews now...
