Occupancy Taxes - Mecklenburg County, NC

So Airbnb collects these taxes.  I was around from before they started, so I have some idea of how much they are.  Right now my guests are pay 32%!!!  I can only calculate 15.25%. 

NC Sales tax:  4.75%
Meck County sales tax: 2.5%
Meck county Occupancy tax:  8%

What's going on here?

Sounds weird to me as well.  Twitter Air BNB about this.  Host community not much help I'm afraid.

I am also concerned about taxes they host has to pay. If host is covered by Airbnb policy for any damages do we still have to change our home owners policy to landlord policy? 

How many taxes host has to pay in mecklenburg county in NC ?
