PayPal query

Hi there,

We are going to host for the very first time from 6th January for 4 nights. My guest says they have paid via credit card (I am assuming that goes to my PayPal account?), I have a query about how long it takes for the payment to show. Is there a holding period from Air BnB?

Also, I have since changed my default payment option to my personal bank account, does the same ''holding period'' apply?

Thanks in advance for your help. Feel like such a newbie at this game, but it is exciting!

Hello @Gillian96. The first payment may take up to around 30 days to appear on your account.

@Gillian96 Welcome to Airbnb!

Airbnb's standard policy is to release payouts 24 hours after the check in time on your listing.  The actual credit to your account will depend on the type of account you have set up and the processing time of the company where your account is held.   Holidays and weekends can affect how soon the credit is in your account.   This link explains the various processing times:

Be sure to note that for new hosts, the first payout will be made 30 days after the confirmation date of the reservation.

Now, concerning your new bank account.  Every time a new payout account is established,  Airbnb will verify it before sending payouts.  This process involves depositing a small amount, usually a penny, to be sure it goes to the right account and is not rejected for any reason.  This process can take up to 5 business days.  Once your bank account status changes from "Pending" to "Ready", Airbnb will release payouts to that account.  If you have Pay Pal established currently, you will not be able to remove it until the bank account has been verified.

Hope this answers you questions.  All the best for the New Year!
