Payout method supposedly being updated (without my having taken action)

Hello,

Since entering my payout information, I have regularly been receiving e-mails saying that my payout information has been updated. (At three diffeent times yesterday afternoon, and once this afternoon.) I had taken no action whatsoever. When I go to check my payout method, I can, of course, only see the last 4 digits of the bank account number, but those, at least, do correspond to my own bank account number.

Could it be that those messages from Airbnb are being sent in error?

Otherwise, is it conceivable that a cybercriminal has access to my Airbnb account, and has either been changing the payout information back and forth, or, alternatively, has so many bank account numbers that he/she can choose one that matches the last four digits of my bank account number, then go ahead and make the switch without my being able to see that it's a different bank account number?

Thanks for your help.

Wael

@Wael0 Are these messages from Airbnb or email? Is the message asking you to take some kind of action? Are you a new host just setting up your payout preference or have you established you payout method some time ago?

It would be an incredible coincidence for a scammer to have a bank account with the same last 4 digits as yours.  You'd probably have more luck buying a lottery ticket.

That said, it would be a good idea to check your Notification Settings under Account Settings and be sure that the Login notification box is checked.

If you could provide the wording of the messages you've received as well as the email address of the sender, that would be a help in answering your question.
