Problem with guests having visitors after hours and staying the night.
I recently had a problem with guests having unauthorized visitors showing up at 2 o'clock in the morning and not leaving untill later in that morning. My space only accomodates 2 people and do not have the option for extra guests. This was their last night staying so I dont have the option of canceling their stay. Any advice for what to do in this situation? I had unauthorized people in my house and feel like this is a safety issue. I now have to change the lock code for the space.
@Terence4As Airbnb has grown ‘quality’ of guests has way dropped too. Due to over saturation in our area, nightly rates have been eroded. About £15 less per night than when I started 5 years ago. As our rates went down so have the type of guests we now attract. So many incredibly entitled individuals who think they can do as they want. As you said, to them it’s just a cheap(er) place to stay, they don’t care that it’s my home.
@David6 Some of these entitled types don't even think of it as your home- they think because they paid to stay there (no matter how paltry a sum), that it's somehow theirs for the time they stay, and that you're just some kind of irritating intruder, like a stray cat that won't go away.
I am getting this feeling, too. Seems like gone are the days where Airbnb was this experience of staying with a local. People are different and some like to engage more than others, which is fine. And some like a cheaper option than a hotel, and like to keep to themselves, and that is fine, too. As long as they understand the rules though and respect them as well as us.
absolutely agree. I’ve taken issue with some guests over cleanliness issue and had them say ‘well you charge a cleaning fee.’ Yep to cover the preparation of your room and laundry fees.
I just don’t believe in being a doormat type of host who puts up with this nonsense. and I won’t be rude but I always do confront guests with issues immediately. The only way to deter them is to mention it in the public review.
