Rescheduling a booking that starts tomorrow??

Hi, your advice would be much appreciated.  I had a chap enquire about a 10 day stay starting tomorrow, 19.10.16, and then confirmed he'd booked.  He told me he was part of a film crew from Madrid who were following a large piece of infrastructure from Asturias for a local refinery and they would be making a film.  He contacted me yesterday to say that the delivery of this structure had been delayed and he wants to move the date to 2 x 5 blocks at end of Oct. and beginning of November.

I now have an empty apartment (although I've received payment) and can't offer it to anyone else but also need to book out the dates he's now requesting.  How can I make this work??  Many thanks.

Depends on what you want to do.

He can send you a request to alter the booking which you can either accept or decline.

If you decide to decline the change, how much he would be charged would depend on the cancellation policy you have set.

If he cancels the booking, then you can tell him that if you manage to rebook the current dates then you can offer him a partial refund, so the sooner he cancels the better the chance of you rebooking.

You can't have received payment if he hasn't actually stayed with you as yet.

If you accept this suggested alteration and nearer the time he wants to change again you will find yourself in a situation where you keep losing out on bookings.

Thanks for the reply - I wasn't sure how the system worked.
