Responding to Inquiries

My feeling has always been that when an inquiry comes in there will be dates attached to it and the option will be there to grant a pre-approval or decline....that's what the big green box says in the email!

But many contributors here have said just answering the inquiry is sufficent...you don't have to pre-approve or decline an inquiry.

So ok, I thought I would put this to the test!

I had an Inquiry back in December, and the person inquiring actually did not want to stay, they just wanted to ask a few questions about the area because they were thinking of buying here. So, I didn't pre-approve or decline, I just had a bit of a chat in the message stream.

I keep on getting reminders that I have an inquiry I have not responded to!!!

There it is even a month later still sitting on my dashboard like a sore thumb, and I can't get rid of it!

I don't often get inquiries, almost all my reservations these days are IB, but I am going 'back to the future' where future inquiries are concerned and when one comes in I will do what I have always previously done and satisfy the system before I get involved in chat!

Cheers......Rob

@Robin4 I've never seen that on my account after just responding to an Inquiry. Maybe you could just ignore it, like we all ignore the price tips and other useless things?

I wish they'd take the "Work Collection", "You're almost there" off my progress page. I've never applied for the work collection, nor do I or will I ever have interest in it, and the 2 things they tell me I "need to work on" to join won't ever be possible at my place- high speed unlimited internet and self-check-in.

@Robin4,

When i have an inquiry on my dasboard which is allready answerred, i click on it and then the option "remove from dashboard" shows up as a text link. Same as if there are messages from Airbnb sitting there where you want to get rid off.

Maybe some "bug" went into this specific one and now you are seeing it forever on your dashboard....as it seems the persons name is: "inquiry" :>)

Best regards,

Emiel

@Emiel1 Thanks Emiel but I just tried and it looks like it's a permanent fixture on my dashboard.

I deliberately cut the users name from the screenshot which is why it is not showing but I can assure you the users name is nothing like "Inquiry".

Hey it's no big deal but, I have been telling other contributors for years to firstly satisfy the systems requirements by either pre-approving or declining. When you get that inquiry email that is the first thing you are asked to do before entering the dedicated message stream.....Pre-approve/Decline.

So this time I thought 'oh well if it works for everyone else I won't do either I will just answer their question'!

It doesn't seem to have affected my response stats but I just dislike the fact that it continually tells me to do something I have already done.....I just haven't done it the way the company wants me to so, back to the old way for me!

@Robin, can you click it? I usually click the inquiry on my dashboard then in the bottom corner it will say that I have already responded and I can 'dismiss.' When I click dismiss it disappears.

@Emilia42

Sorry about the delay, we are all running around here getting oursleves in a tiz over the temperature. I looks like we could set a new record this afternoon. It has just passed midday and already we have hit 110f, There is every possibility we could break our all time record of 115.4f (46.3c) this afternoon. I might do what the Mexicans do, get the sweep fan goiung and have an afternoon siesta!!

No as I said, I am not seeing the option to dismiss. When I hit that field it sends me back to initial email pre-approve/Decline message. I will get onto CX now and get them to reset it.

The other thing is Emilia,  it's a long time since I cleared my cache and my computer could be becoming lazy. I first try deleting my cache and see if that fixes, if it doesn't I will get CX to sort it out.

Thanks for your help and your time on this, it is appreciated Emilia.

Cheers.....Rob

@Robin4 There's a program I installed on my computer years ago, and I really like it- called Glary Utilities, and it's free. I have it on my task bar and I use it every day before I shut off my computer. It will clear your cache, erase tracks and temporary files, scan for viruses, do a disk or registry defrag, so many things. I just click on it when I'm done working, click on the Scan and repair botton and walk away. It does its thing in a few minutes and keeps your computer running faster and free from stuff like you're experiencing. I normally just use the 1 click maintenance, but there are also more advanced clean-ups you can do. It's quite user friendly and explains everything in an easy to understand way.

@Sarah977 @Emilia42

Clearing the cache fixed the problem and as soon as I made my way back onto my dashboard and hit the inquiry 'Dismiss from Dashboard' appeared and I was able to delete it.

Thanks both of you girls, that is what is so good about being here, none of us know it all, but collectively there is not much we don't know!! You are diamonds, both of you!

Thank God I've got that notification off my dashboard.

@Robin4@Sarah977@Emilia42  Thank you all for solving this!  I was keenly interested in how this turned out as I planned to undertake the same experiment.  Cheers 🙂
