Hello from North Pole,

I always handle it differently.

If nobody arrives the same day, I am flexible for up to 2-3 hours.

if new guests arrive 4 hours later, I need the time to clean my cabin, but I am picky.

Hope this helps as a idea.

Best wishes Jutta

Same here.

Hi Jutta, you seem real flexible.  I would love to do that but i'll be unable to because guest tend to use up current and i'm trying to keep my light bills on a level. I'm considering changing check-out to 11am.

Hi Kamar,

My advice is to graciously accommodate her, with good wishes, at no charge---if your reservation schedule permits.

If you need that time for cleaning because of a tight schedule before your next guest arrives, then apologize profusely that you can't grant her this small favor, and help her problem-solve another option for her pre-wedding preparations.  If she is asking this months ahead of time, so you don't know if you'll have someone booked directly after her, then you could either block out the entire departure date, or make a note that your check-in time for a guest inquiring about that date will need to be after ...whatever time will work for you.  Be sure to let any quests who inquire about that date know about the limitation before you accept their reservation request.

Small acts of kindness like this will help you feel good about what you do, and come back to you in unexected ways!  When in doubt, my general advice is to put yourself in the guests position:  how would you want to be treated?

Good luck with your hosting!

Cheers!

I totalled understand but sometimes when your too kind they take advantage of the situation. Had bad experiences so i'm not tooo kind anymore 🙂 I think for now I will bump checking out to 11am seeing that the standard for hotels. Thanks for the advice however and all the best to you too !

Hi. And yes it depends on how much later the guest wants. I often accommodate my guests that have a later flight. I don't mind them staying a bit longer so they are not wandering the city with all of their luggage. That can be a bummer. I also have extended the offer for the guest to vacate the room so I can clean it, then leave their luggage in the livingroom and go enjoy their last morning before their afternoon flight.  This comes back to you as good reviews and return guests.  But you may sometimes have to set a limit.

Might be nice to give her a lie in after her wedding
