Taxes and No Support for Hosts!

I have had my property listed on Airbnb for a while now.... usually take reservations on another site. I know that at some point I added my info for tax collection as I am in Pennsylvania in the US.

We finally had our first Airbnb guest and for the life of me I cannot figure out if the taxes are part of the nightly fee or if they are added separately and in addition to the nightly rate I have posted.  The website/dashboard is not user friendly and I am pretty tech savvy!

The lack of Host support is terrible.... compared to the other site that I use.  If this is what I have to look forward to that may have been my one and only Airbnb guest.  If I cannot access the details of my customer's payment, my tax info and my general financial info....then I think I will stick with vrbo.  At least they make it easy!

Sorry for the vent but I have just spent the last hour running around in circles on the website.   Any help would be appreciated since Airbnb doesn't seem to want to make itself available to new hosts.

@Margaret152: Airbnb is currently charging $17 occupancy tax for the required stay of two nights at your home. So you are charging $142 per night, plus $17 for two night tax. If you are collecting and remitting your own taxes then you will receive a payout of $284 less the service fee plus $17.

After you have been paid you will be able to view transactions by going to your admin panel dashboard, click on Stats in the menu that spans across the page, click on the Earnings tab of the next screen and scroll down toward the bottom of the page. Click the link "View Transaction History" to see your total payouts. Click the link "Gross Earnings" and you will see the occupancy taxes collected.

Thank you for your help...I finally found the gross earnings.  I am also trying to find where I can change my tax settings...... the amount I am seeing that is being charged ($17) doesn't seem correct. I remember setting it but it was a while ago.... I just want to double check everything.

Thanks again...really appreciated the help.
