Why do I host? Mark Twains quote pictured below expressed it much better than I could ever have. And if I personally could change the narrow-mindedness of just one individual then surely I did succeed as an Airbnb host, such is my goal - Ruben
Well, I host for money... only 🙂

we all know what kind of girl You are 🙂

I know, maybe this will ban me from the CC.
But I couldn't resist to make that joke.
@Rubén16, congratis, it is an instering topic! I lament to say I am not so idealistic as you are!
Agree with @Branka-and-Silvia0 and @Ute42
I travel for pleasure! I also agree with with Mark Twin and I have quoted him in this community! 🙂
I host for money! 🙂
I have never seen someone that went to the top of the mountain and heard a voice telling... : "From now on, you will host for free! You will be blessed receiving lots of guest and will learn everything from them! "
I think that even the creators of Airbnb started hosting for money. They were facing hard times to pay the rental... It was the begining of Airbnb story
Oops! @Ute42 was making a joke. It was funny... but rephrasing, I can not agree with what Ute said ! 🙂
Sorry @Branka-and-Silvia0
@Rubén16 I would love to say that I host for such noble and worthwhile reasons, but in fact I host for the extra useful money, because it makes good use of the top floor of my home and now that I am retired, it keeps me on my toes and stops me from becoming a boring old woman (hopefully).
@Rubén16 That's a great quote and so true. Of course I wouldn't do this for no financial gain, but mainly I started hosting because when I built my house, I put in a guest room, assuming that lots of frriends and family would come to visit. And they do come, but people have busy lives, jobs, kids, school and can't necessarily afford the flight. So the room sat empty for a large percentage of the time. I was never tempted to rent it out full time- I don't want a full time roommate and I want to be able to block it off if friends or family do come. So Airbnb hosting was a good option. And having raised 3 kids, my house in Canada was always full of them and their friends and my friends, so I'm totally accustomed to having people around. The added perk was that I've had very cool, interesting guests from many places who've been wonderful to get to know and hear their myriad stories, and it has, I hope, improved me as a person having to accomodate and interact with all kinds of personalities, and learn to let the little annoyances roll off me.
