Has anyone else noticed the new review format for hosts reviewing guests?

It's been simplified so much it barely exists...while guest reviews have become more detailed with vague categories hosts have no control over.

I don't see anything mentioned in "updates."  What's up with this?

@Susan1028 I think it's been the same since I started hosting a year and a half ago: you give them a star rating on cleanliness, the rules and communication and you have the option to recommend them or not (thumbs up or down). You can also write them a public and a private review. Are you seeing something different now? I just did one today and I'm not seeing anything has changed.

@Susan1028, can you take a screen shot?

I am afraid I am with @Alexandra316 on this one. I have done 2 reviews  of guests in the past 24 hours and the process is exactly the same as it has always been since I started hosting three years ago.

Maybe this is another of those annoying little minor 'tweekings' this comapny specialise in springing on the unsuspecting users.

@Susan1028 On mine the order has changed. I do the stars first then write my little blurb. But beyond that itsithe same.

no more stars or thumbs up/down icons.  Just 3 limited Q&As.  will do a screen shot of my next one and post it

weird it’s the same as always for me

Another one here who hasn't noticed any difference.  @Susan1028  What exactly are you missing?

Often changes are rolled out incrementally, your area might be one of the first.

If they have  changed things, I eagerly look forward to reading about it in 3 months time via a newsletter *sarcasm alert*

@Susan1028 Yes! I just got the new review form- star ratings for cleanliness, communication and observation of house rules, then the next page is for the written part, and NO THUMBS UP OR DOWN! Just a little box that asks if you'd welcome back this guest, yes or no. Which states that that info won't be public. So we're no longer going to see "This guest is recommended by XXX number of hosts?"  So.... guests now have pages of stuff to rate us on, and we not only aren't allowed to see guests' profile photos, we aren't even allowed to thumbs up or down them anymore.

This sucks big time. Pretty soon all hosts will quit Airbnb and the platform will only consist of guests 🙂

@Sarah327  I didn't have star ratings or a thumbs up/down icon to work with.  Just 3 limited narrative catagories.

THE REVIEW SYSTEM IS WRONG Airbnb got it so wrong the host has everything to lose while the guest nothing to lose

a guest can destroy your listing if he doesn't like the place he  can ruin a property investment worth  millions of dollars while if you review them wrong they can always book a hotel or have a friend make the booking just like that sooner or later  more people will realise this and will become a major problem for Airbnb

Here, here Richard.

The whole system is a disgrace.

Weve been suffering similar problems recently

@Susan1028 In other words what Airbnb is telling us  that they care more about what the guests think of our listings than our opinion about their guests.

Most other booking sites don't allow any host reviews of guests, so I guess it is what it is.  airbnb seems to want to become another booking.com

FYI fellow hosts- this new review form has eliminated the thumbs up, thumbs down "Would you recommend this guest?"

Instead, there is "Would you welcome this guest back?" with a line above it saying "Your answer won't be published anywhere."

So I guess this is Airbnb's method for sneakily removing the "This guest is recommended by xxx # of hosts."

Which would mean we will no longer be able to see the number of reviews a guest has and compare it to the # of recommendations.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the next anti-host policy to come down the pike will be the inability to decline a reservation at all. That if we're not willing to accept every reservation, we'll be delisted.
