Why is host charged for changes to reservation

Lady from out of town booked my 7 nights min whole house , then a week later she requested a change to only 5days due to circumstances out of her control

I accepted the changes but was then charged by airbnb for the change , why would i the host have to pay?

@Megan405  Had you already been paid by Airbnb for the 7 nights?

@Megan405

Hi Megan, many of us have found that where an alteration is required for an existing reservation (apart from sending a special offer)  it is always best to get customer support to make the changes. There are too many variables and the automated system will in many instances make unrequired changes.

In this instance I would contact Airbnb in Aukland on  +64 4 4880 888, explain what has happened, tell them it was the guest who required trip to be shortened, and get them to sort it out for you!

Cheers......Rob

Hi @Megan405,  were you charged for the changes, or was your pay out less because it’s fewer days? If it’s for a reservation down the road and the guest requested the changes,  I am not seeing how you could be charged for that. However your future payout would definitely be less if it was for fewer days.

It was called a change request fee I wish I can taken a screen shot it bascially list out the update payment schedule and shows a line item as change request fee

@Megan405

CHANGE REQUEST FEE ??? Never heard for it....is it new? Please try to find it on your computer, take a screenshot and post it here
