cancellation fee

Hi Airbnb Community,

Please can someone help me - we have a booking from 16/11 2016 but due to a death in the family the guest would like to change the dates to January 2017. We are very happy to do this and feel bad about charging the 50% fee, so would be happy to just change the booking but how do we go about this? And how does the guest go about it, as I think he would have to do it from his side. As far as I can gather, I would get puished Iif I do the cancellation, is that correct?

Thank you in advance and kind  regard

Anita

Hi @Anita64

Well is it a cancellation or change of booking?

If the guest wants to change his booking he has to request it from his end. From there you can accept the change without any problem or extra fee's.

If you decide to cancel you will be penalized for it or you can ask your guest to cancel although he won't get his fee's to ABB back but you may forfeit the cancellation policy.

So it seems like you'd just ask your guest to change the dates in the booking and accept them and voila.

I agree with Anita; a change in booking will be a win win for both sides. If it must be canceled, let the client initiate it, he won't get back ABB booking fees though. As for your policy you can always waive it or offer more than taking 50% off.

Call Airbnb. They are awesome with this kind of issue. We were a part of the flooding in Ellicott city md. And we had someone do an instant book. Because my snoozed listing was available. For some wierd reason.  They called he guest and rebooked them. And I got no charge or bad rap on my record.
