@Sandira0 Unfortunately this happens all the time.  Hosts receive a message telling them their listing is on another site for a cheaper night's stay and out of concern / curiosity (who wouldn't be?) the host will go to that site where they ask the host fto login.  When the host logs in, the scammer now captures that information and has the keys to the host's account.

Airbnb is aware of this type of scam, but unfortunately can't prevent them from happening.  All users, hosts and guests alike need to be very vigilant and careful about responding to bogus messages.

When you get a message like this you can follow Airbnb's advice:

Hopefully you did not click on the link in the message or log in to the site.  If you did, go and check your notification settings to be sure they are correct then change your password.  You might also contact Airbnb to see if they have further instructions.

Hi I'm new to air bnb hosting and since listing three properties  I've been constantly reciving sms notifications telling me that I have new booking requests, or that guests have booked. Which I might add is not possible as I have sent these properties so that guests have to send me a booking request.

These include message which appear to be direct from guests asking where they can collect the keys and change arrival times. However in both the airbnb app and website there are no requests, bookings, or messages.

As a result I have now deactivated one property and snoozed the other two, as the platform does not seem to work correctly.

I have been renting holiday let properties online over the past ten years and have never come across this.

I have recently brought this up direct with airbnb customer service, who tell me that guests will not be able to see my mobile number without first booking, which surely can not be correct, otherwise they wouldn't be able to message me.

Are other hosts having the same problem?
