timing of monthly pay outs

Hi

I have a guest staying for 6 weeks.

Today I got a message from Airbnb saying that a payout had been made and monthly payments would be scheduled.

Fine but I need to know when the next payment will be.

Does anyone know if it will be 28 days after the first day (ie checkin), or at the end of the calendar month?

thanks in advance for your help

Love this forum!

Juliet

Hello @Juliet8 ,

Next payment is 1 month (30 days) after check-in.

Best regards, Emiel

Sorry @Emiel1, I hate to disagree with another contributor!

Hi Juliet, this link may help you to understand what happens with long term payouts, although this link is not technically correct!

https://www.airbnb.ca/help/article/285/how-are-long-term-reservation-payouts-processed

When I was in support I came across this issue on a number of occasions!

Airbnb operates in days (being 24 hours), weeks (being 7 days) and months (being 28 days).

A 'month' is a mythical thing Juliet....some 'months' are 30 days, some are 31 and one is 28, or maybe 29 every now and then!

Your guest will be charged for the first 'month' as 28 days and if their stay is for a calendar month they will be charged for the additional days as a separate payment.

This CC 'Host Voice' post from back in 2016 will help you further understand Juliet....

https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Host-Voice/A-month-is-not-28-days/idi-p/262793

Your guest payments will be released to you in 28 day blocks, not 30, or a 'month' and I wish Airbnb would get that article 285 correct because it does cause a lot of confusion!! Even in Airbnb's terms of service they only make an oblique reference to the definition of 'a month' in section 10.4

https://www.airbnb.com.au/terms/payments_terms

This really does noeed to be fixed, but Juliet, I hope this helps you!

Cheers.....Rob

Hello @Robin253 ,

i checked my Transaction History for recent long term stays, and payments were released in installments every 30 days after check in. That's also what the Airbnb Help is mentioning. When making such a reservation there is also a "breakdown" of the installments. But maybe in this part of the world things are different (i get payed from Airbnb UK) ?

Best regards, Emiel

Added: i had a reservation from 29 oktober - 19 januari. The firsts payment was released on 30 oktober, the second payment  on 30 november and final payment on 30 december. Please note: these are the "release dates" in the Transaction History and that's i think where @Juliet8 is interested in.

@Emiel1

Hi Emiel, what I described is the general procedure Emiel. Did those 30 day payments relate to 30 days of stay or, 28 with an adjustment at the end?

I don't deal with long term stays so have no personal experience of this. All I can quote is what's in the rules and the information we were given. I would be interested to see a breakdown of this. Maybe things are on the change and I would like to see how this is possibly now handled. Any chance of posting a TH screenshot, names blanked of course!

Cheers......Rob

Thank you everyone for your replies - really helpful and I'm grateful for the speedy response.  Juliet
