Abusing Retaliatory Review from Host based on lies

Abusing Retaliatory Review from Host based on lies

Well it seems the Airbnb doesn't car much about transparency in review

and allows any retaliatory review on any opinion the person can have without

actual facts.

I stayed at Jose's place  and after few back sets with hosts  I decided to write review.

My review was in polite and constructive matter with positive and negative side of stay  just to make sure

that host will fix the issues so

other guests doesn't face same problems in future. As to me the place felt run down and

did not get much maintenance as the owner did care much about place but much more about money.

It is sad to see this on Airbnb and you would think that it is safe community

without being abused by such review which is totally written on base of angry retaliation

to my review. I am socked that Airbnb allows such reviews based on anger and purely

to cause harm other person and  with lies.

Well what I got back form host as review is that he described me as totally worst person.

What can I say :).

I've been on Airbnb for years and Personally I have reviews behind me which says completely opposite.

It is obvious  what he says are  just pure lies from his angry retaliation and abuse from position

of being able to write any review he wishes.

I  definitely never acted in the way he portrait me.

But worst thing is that Airbnb just don't care and seems people can write anything

freely as  whatever their opinion.

I would like just to ask for help how to deal with this?

As I do not feel that it is right  and be quiet  in front of bulling like this.

And definitely to say that I will search alternative way of getting accommodation in future

as I can not accept to be left unsupported and be allowed to be treated like this.

I am feel very disappointed and let down by Airbnb.

Honestly, seeing as you both left negative reviews for each other, I would discuss with the host to see if both of you could come to an understanding and would be willing to remove each other's negative reviews. It would work out better for both of you, I mean if you care about your reviews that is.

Otherwise, to remove a negative review that doesn't break Airbnb review guidelines is pretty hard, especially when the entire process is being handled by AI nowadays.

Hi @Igor773,
Sorry to hear you had this experience — it’s frustrating when you try to be fair and still get a retaliatory review in return.

Unfortunately, as @Zheng49 mentioned, unless a review clearly violates content guidelines (e.g. hate speech, threats, or private info), it’s very hard to get it removed. Still, you can report the review through your account and explain why it’s inaccurate or retaliatory — sometimes that triggers a manual review.

Another option: respond publicly to the host's review with a calm, respectful explanation. Future hosts and guests can see your side, and your review history speaks for itself.

Hang in there — one unfair review won’t erase your years of good hosting or guest behavior.
