Accepting or declining reservations

Accepting or declining reservations

Hi, l have a reservation waiting to accept or decline, I've got 10hrs to go before the 24hrs is up, I've sent 2 messages as we have a working farm and need to access the area around the house, the booking is for 40 days from a man in US for his daughter, just wanting to see if this is ok and some info on his daughter, asking tactfully.

Nothing back, what should l do?

We are new to this, are these sorts of bookings normal?

Cheers

Hi Rebecca, my apologies for not updating.

I ended up declining the reservation and suggesting if the daughter wanted to contact and book under her profile we could look at it.

She ended up booking, l checked out her profile and reviews which where all 5 star and very positive.

She's here currently for a month, she's a survivor of DV and wanting somewhere peaceful to heal.

So far there has been no issues😊

Cheers

@Mandy515 First question is - Are you sure its a booking request and not a booking enquiry? If it is the latter then some guests send many and then don't progress with most of them. Also with an enquiry you just need to answer the question and there is no need to approve/decline.

If it is the former then its weird as the guest is committed if you accept.

Thank you for the info, it didn't feel right, but being new to this l want sure. The man booking has no reviews and only been a member for 3 months

I really appreciate your help. Cheers

..."the booking is for 40 days from a man in US for his daughter"

This appears to me to be a 3rd party booking, is it? If so, I'd decline on that information as we do not accept third party bookings.

@Mike-And-Jane0 's comment is appropriate, definitely double check that.

Thank you, will do 🙏

@Mandy515 considering the lack of response to your inquiries and the potential for this to be a third-party booking, which generally poses additional complications and risks, it might be prudent to decline this reservation. Before making a decision, ensure you verify whether this is indeed a booking request or just an inquiry, as pointed out by @Mike-And-Jane0. If it's merely an inquiry, there's less pressure on immediate action beyond responding. However, if it's a booking request and you have reservations about third-party bookings or lack of communication, it's within your right to decline based on those concerns. Moving forward, clearly stating your policy on third-party bookings in your listing might help avoid similar situations.
