Applying Gift Card to current reservation

I have made a  reservation and paid the deposit. I could find out how to redeem my gift card during the check out. Now I have been able to redeem the card, but how do I apply it to my current reservation?

It's been a while since you posted and I'm wondering whether you managed to get a resolution to your question?

I believe I got the only answer. It wasn't the one I wanted. It is my understanding that I was to activated the gift card before I made my reservation. I had no idea. I made my reservation and when paying I tried to use the card (not having time to research, I completed the reservation) then went back to see how to apply the gift card to find out that now I can't use it until I make a new reservation.  This was very disappointing.
