This is from AI, and looks like I am not the only one with a problem
'Common complaints from hosts include:
Notes are buried: It is tedious to have to click on each blocked date to view a note. Hosts want to see important context (like VRBO or direct bookings ) at a glance, not hidden behind an extra click.
Clumsy monthly navigation: Scrolling down instead of using clean monthly tabs increases the chance of errors — it's easy to skip or misread months, especially when dealing with high occupancy or seasonal traffic.
No true "master calendar" functionality: Unlike what owner-direct or other PMS (property management systems) offered, Airbnb’s calendar lacks robust visual tools and batch-editing. Many hosts used to have a centralized place to manage all their bookings, but Airbnb doesn't fill that role well.
Manual syncing = more risk: Airbnb does offer iCal syncing, but it’s one-way or delayed in many cases, and doesn’t cover all features (like notes or special pricing). This forces hosts to do manual checking, which is error-prone and stressful.'
Should you make a double booking because of their ineffective calendar then the hosts gets penalized.
Many of their hosts are seniors like me and not tech savy and quite honestly it took me a year of trial and error to see exactly how it worked. I used to use Owner Direct as my master calendar but it was bought out by Expedia. It was only a small time holiday bookings site but it had a much better system which I mastered instantly. With all the resources Airbnb has you would think they could sort their calendar out to avoid double bookings which is bad for them as well as the host.Yes there are other software out there that can deal with this but as a small operator I do not have the resources to spend $$$$ a month on two seasonal units.
Please Airbnb listen to your hosts and improve the functionality of the calendar
