Booking issues

Booking issues

Just had another bad experience with Air BNB  where a host has kept our money and booking was cancelled 4 days prior to the booking. Air BNB could do more to actually be fair in this situation but frankly they don't care. So disappointing!!!!!!!!!

This was whilst trying to use a Gift voucher from the last time we were done over - TBH I just want to avoid the site all together but the lure of trying to claw back some of the money we've lost is too big a lure.

The host now has bookings for our dates so is basically cashing in on our misfortune, we would like to continue the booking but aren't allowed.

Air BNB is so difficult to make contact with when the issue could have been sorted out if we were actually contacted. I understand that they are an online platform but don't expect any assistance when issues arrive from either a host (yes we've been hosts too!) or making a booking for a stay

Even feel like I'm talking to myself here - yay!

@Geoff338  Who cancelled the booking? You? Airbnb? The host? More details are needed. You say you were a host so you should know that when a host cancels, they are penalized with a fee they have to pay Airbnb, and they have the dates they cancelled blocked so no one else can book them.  And those are just two of a few penalties. So how do you figure the host kept your money AND got the dates filled with other guests? It's more likely Airbnb has your money. Read through some of the posts on this forum. Just sayin.

The host didn't cancel, Air BNB cancelled the booking because the card we used to pay the deposit (a travel card) had been cancelled thus the last 25% could not be paid. They sent an email to my wifes email address (which she missed). We back through Air BNB and two nights out of the three we booked are now booked out - we would have liked to have continued with the booking but five days out AirBNB cancelled it because they couldn't draw the rest of the funds. So yeah they have the money and have told us we are not getting anything back !

@Geoff338  As you were a host yourself  you should know that hosts do not get paid until 24 hours after the guest has checked in and that Airbnb hold your payment until then.  This is an issue you will have to take up with a CS representative.
