I have just started renting a small house in Kansas. When I look at other listings in my area, I cannot see any cleaning fees. Am I missing something or do properties in Lawrence, Kansas not charge cleaning fees?

Hello @Kendall125
No you're not missing anything Kendall - it's not you! It's just that Airbnb have recently changed the way they display the price to guests.
Today, any cleaning fee, additional person fee, pet fee and any Airbnb commission is incorporated into the nightly fee so guests no longer have any idea if and how much we are charging for cleaning! It's all rolled into our nightly fee. Don't like it!

Thanks. That seems strange. So if I charge a cleaning fee it will be charged every night or spread across all nights?
Hello @Kendall125
The cleaning fee is spread over the duration of the stay and guests see a nightly fee and also the total cost of the stay in a search against each listing but guests don't see how much we charge for cleaning anymore as a separate line like before
You can choose to set a different cleaning fee for stays between 1 and 2 days and another for a 3+ stay. The short stay fee must be lower than the longer stay fee.
Hi Joell43,
Will the host still see the total of cleanings separately at years end for tax purposes though?
Hello @Peg327
That's an excellent question Peg and one I can't confirm unfortunately as we have different tax reports as I am based in France
Looking back on my tax report for 2024, I can see that Airbnb included the cleaning fee in my gross earnings
