Do I need to wash the comforter after every stay?

Hi all, we've been hosting for almost 3 years now. We usually get one-night bookings back-to-back, and we have always washed our comforter after each guest's stay. However, the frequent washing has destroyed most of our comforters. I recently got a duvet insert & cover so that we can wash the cover frequently without ruining the blanket, but putting the cover on and taking it off each time is getting to be quite annoying. I read that hotels don't wash their comforters often at all, and I'm wondering what other hosts do in this regard. Thanks in advance!

Yes, I use 3 duvet covers/sheet sets per bed. You don’t have to wash immediately and you can give folks a clean duvet cover  every stay.

Not true, most people like a top sheet!

We use microban disinfectant spray for our comforters unless they show stains or it's been a longer rental. Then I wash all the comforters after about every 3 bookings

Lots of different opinions here...

The standard is to use a lightweight duvet with a cover in summer and possibly a heavier duvet in winter with a cover. Most Hosts have 2-3 sets of duvet covers so they can swap out the used one with a clean one quickly between guests and launder the used one on site or off-site. Having extra duvet covers also enables you to quickly remove a stained one and replace with a clean one without delay.

Please....for heavens sake - wash the duvet covers between every guest. Same goes for bathroom rugs. You should use low pile, easy to wash/dry bathroom rugs or hotel like bath rugs (they look like a towel).

Large properties sometimes have an extra washer/dryer in a garage or storage area to handle all the linens. One Host I work with has a property that has 16 beds...thats a lot of washing and drying! She has two dryers...one for guests and one in the locked garage and the cleaners use both when drying linens.
