Extra Night

Hello everyone,

If I receive a two-night booking, I am currently asking guests if they would like to stay a third night for half price. Is there an easy way to amend this booking which has already been paid for as I amended a booking yesterday and filled in the correct amount and Airbnb overrode this pricing to my nightly rate and it went very wrong with guests’ fees etc. Thank you

Hi Jazmine!

Hmmm...we have considered this to fill "orphan" days between bookings. The guest can arrive a day earlier, or extend the stay by one day. However,  there are alot of "moving parts" to do this correctly. Maybe some other hosts can respond to this post and advise an easier way to do this. I have seen hosts do this two ways:

Airbnb's suggestion if they have NOT booked yet:

Method 1 - Sending Special Offers

https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/35

First, make sure your calendar is open and that you don’t have any pending requests for the dates in your offer—if you do, you’ll have to decline them. Also, be certain you want to host the guest, because their trip will be automatically confirmed if they accept.

DesktopiOS appAndroid appMobile browser

  1. Go to your Inbox and open the message from the guest
  2. Click Special offer
  3. Under the Subtotal, enter the price you’d like to offer for the entire stay
  4. Click Send special offer

Keep in mind:

  • The price should include all nights of the reservation
  • Be sure to include any additional fees, such as the cleaning fee
  • Don’t include taxes, the service fee, or the security deposit, if you’re using our offline fees feature (Taxes and service fees will be added automatically, and security deposits will be handled separately)
  • For special offers over 28 days in length, you can choose to offer a subtotal (the entire amount) or a monthly price
  • Airbnb can block your calendar if you haven’t provided all the information required for your account, so make sure everything's up to date.

We'll then notify the guest with the offer details showing the taxes and service fee as separate line items.

Method 2 - If Guest has already booked their reservation:

Special Offers

  1. Turn Instant Book OFF
  2. Go to Calendar, choose date you will be adding to reservation
  3. Change the price showing your discount
  4. Go to Guest reservation scroll to “Change Reservation”
  5. Change dates you want to change (usually check-out date only)
  6. A request is sent to Guest
  7. Guest must accept or decline (in the mean time, IB is NOT on)
  8. Once guest accepts Special Offer, Turn Instant Book back ON

Be sure your guest is aware that taxes and fees will still apply; the discount is only on the nightly rate. There should be no additional cleaning fee added. It's important your guest accepts quickly, as Instant Book is OFF while this process is ongoing (that effects your search results rank).

Hope this works for you! Let us know how it goes and if this works for you!

Thank you so much for all your help, I will give this a go! X

If you use instant book then text your guest and ask them to accept the variation you are sending through. Go to your cost per day and change it to the amount you wish the guest to pay ,synch your calender , send the variation . I suspect by simply changing the price on the day , synching and sending the variation will work as easily with or without IB... H

When I go to the inbox and open the message from guest, I do not see the Special offer option. Would love some guidance in this.

Thanks

Hi @Priyah0

The Special Offer button is only shown if a guest sends you an Inquiry I believe. You can respond by sending a special offer if you wish.
