Filthy place does not refund us

Filthy place does not refund us

Hi,

We had booked this property expecting a decent, livable place for our stay — but what we walked into was absolutely disgusting. I cannot overstate how filthy and neglected the house was. We reached out to the host immediately and also contacted Airbnb Support, but to our shock, no action was taken to help us. Not even the bare minimum.

We found the property in a condition that was absolutely unlivable — stained, filthy beds (some with what appeared to be urine and feces), insects and cockroaches, and an overwhelming smell of dirt and mold. It was revolting. The photos we shared already speak for themselves. Bedding was awfully dirty. We had to sleep on the floor like animals and we could not use 5 of the bedrooms due to awful and dirty bedding. We were ragefull and had no choice but tolerate.

We were a group with no realistic way to leave during the weekend. It was peak time, and there were simply no other options available for us to relocate on such short notice. So we had no choice but to stay, despite the conditions — but that doesn’t mean this was acceptable, and it certainly doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be fully compensated for what we went through.

Let me be very clear: this was not a case of “needing a little cleaning.” This place was a health hazard, and the host should never have been allowed to rent it in this condition. We paid for a safe, clean, livable space and ended up in a nightmare.

We are now requesting a full refund, and expect to be compensated appropriately for this experience. Anything less would be unacceptable.

Photos are attached (again) for your reference. We expect a response — and real action — this time.

So sorry this happened...you did the right thing by contacting Airbnb Support. Did you notify the Host of all the issues?

This is a discussion forum for Airbnb Hosts and guests, not Airbnb Customer Service. You will need to continue to work with Airbnb customer support regarding this.

@Rebecca

Yes we already contact them, but they do not refund us and Abb also not responding us clearly.

other than refund, it was the safety and bio hazard issue that should not happen. They should not be able to rent properties like this. How can we report it and make abb force to pay attention?
