Hi!
I try to make sure the guest feels like the Airbnb is a lot different than a hotel , where they have a personal welcome and a nice comfortable and clean environment.Friendliness and being clear about the guidelines helps, as well as well as giving them a small welcome gift. I also try to give them information on restaurants and things to do.

That’s such a thoughtful approach! Creating a warm, personal atmosphere really does set an Airbnb apart from a hotel stay.
The combination of a friendly welcome, clear guidelines, a clean and cozy space, and a small welcome gift makes guests feel truly cared for.
I also love that you share local recommendations — it adds so much value to their experience and helps them feel more connected to the area.
You’re clearly going the extra mile, and I’m sure your guests appreciate it immensely!
Regards,
Nandini
Hi @Kelly2204 , I share your sentiments and have a similar approach. What personal gifts do you give. I'm a bit stuck as need ideas that will work and not be cumbersome for me in the future.
Customer service is so important, there is a post on here that complaints because guests leave rubbish for her to throw away and because they stay indoors. For me it's a pleasure to throw guests rubbish away and to have them stay - because it means they are comfortable and enjoying themselves.
Hello @Kelly2204
It doesn't look like you're alone in your approach - thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Hi @Rebecca ,
Thank you. I give them any combination of the following, a cookie, chips, or candy, lotion, fancy soap, a local guide, and a welcome/thank you card, etc. It varies.
Kelly
That's lovely @Kelly2204! Does it vary with each guest or depending on what you've picked up?
@Kelly2204 Thanks for the insight. I have Just asked the guests I have now if they would like to have any info on tours or restaurants 🥰
Hi @Kelly2204
I completely agree. I always try to make sure guests feel the difference between staying at an Airbnb and a typical hotel. A warm personal welcome, a clean and cozy space, and a small welcome gift go a long way. I also find that being clear with guidelines and offering tips on local restaurants and activities really helps guests feel at home and cared for. Happy Hosting!
@Kelly2204 I agree that friendliness and cleanliness are both very important. We live full time on our property and our rental is a studio on our property. We’ve enjoyed giving tours of our lake, sharing the history of the area and many shared dinners with our guests. We’ve actually become good friends with a few guests that have stayed with us as part of their relocation to the area! One review left by a guest said “we are like their aunt and uncle” which really warmed our hearts. That does not happen at a hotel.
That sounds great! A warm welcome, clear rules, and local tips really make the stay feel personal. The small gift is a nice touch too!
