Giving personal details to a host

I have booked an airbnb.  No problem?

Now the HOST has required me to complete a list of all guests and said he needs MY personal ID (eg Driving licence)

He says it is part of his house rules

IS THIS ALLOWED

Many hosts by law have to get the names of all guests, ID’s and register them with their local government. I think it is common in Europe as all hotels need your passport info. It depends on the country or city/town regulations.

Some home owner insurance policies require that we have all the names of each guests staying at the listing or it would void our policy of coverage. I have even seen in the community boards that Aircover sometimes did not cover (guest damages to the space) when all guests were not listed on the reservation on the Airbnb platform.
