Guest Behavior & property damage.

Guest Behavior & property damage.

Good afternoon,

This weekend I was enchanted with an unfortunate scenario in which the guests lied, broke the policy of bringing a dog into the condo, verbally abused and threatened the condo administrator, another guest and private security and cause damages to the condo. The Police had to be called in, they proceeded to arrest one of the guests and ask the rest of the party to vacate the condo and premises.

Airbnb called us to question why the guest had been asked to leave, when told that the Police had been called in they argued that the we had to proof the guest had broken the rules, you have to be kidding me, rules, they broke the law, I'm no lawyer but the law is surely above any rule.

We are now suspended by Airbnb, faced with full reimbursement and the cost of damages.

This is outrageous; can anyone help us out. It seems Airbnb's only concern is making the comisión on the booking. We are seeking legal advice on how to make Airbnb responsible.

Thanks, and look forward to any guidance.

I am so sorry to know that you've experienced this. Unfortunately,  Airbnb does NOTHING. That guest could have said you set the place on fire while he slept and Airbnb will believe him instead of YOU. Try to handle things with your condo administrator and fix what you can for your own personal life. Airbnb will happily hang you out to dry for they already got paid. Anything that happens because you Airbnb your condo will never be supported or handled by Airbnb. This is why so many people loathe the platform and only use it for one purpose, then do not rely on it any further.

Some hosts don't even bother with reviews. I'm about to jump on that wagon, too.

Sorry again, but Airbnb will not help you.

@Alan1591 Is it the host that is suspended or the listing? You don't appear to have a listing hence my question.

Airbnb seem to have a daft policy of suspending listings (not usually hosts) when parties occur presumably in the mistaken belief you would encourage parties. If you supply them with some sort of crime report that might help but it usually takes a week or more for them to get around to dealing with these sort of issues.

I don't know why Airbnb refunds guests who have been removed for breaking house rules. I can only assume it is difficult for Airbnb to ask a guest to pay when they haven't received the accommodation (But like you I am no lawyer).

Hi @Alan1591 ,

I am so sorry to hear about this whole situation.

Would it be possible for you to share your Airbnb Host profile link with us so that we can ask the concerned team to have a look at it?
