Guest left several personal items

We had our first horrible experience with a long-term guest. Guest let 3 weeks early in a very disrespectful manner.  I notified her within the hour of her departure that she left several personal items including a case. I offered to box up het items and arrange for her to retrieve the items.

However,  the guest was beyond unreasonable and informed me the case in fact was a gun case.  . Because of the situation I do not feel comfortable with her returning to the home or even communicating with her.  Any suggestions on what we should do with her items?

We honestly have never dealt with a guest like her.

People do leave things, and usually are easier to deal with. My first inclination would be to ask the local police what to do with a left behind firearm. She may be able to retrieve it there with proof of its registration to her.
