Guest requesting extras of everything

Hi,

In our airbnb we put everything so our guests can feel comfortable.
they have from toiletries to softener , dishwasher etc.

link of our airbnb;

we have two guests with a reservation of two weeks.

they are constantly asking to replace everything.

is this normal in airbnb? do guests expect to get everything replace during their entire stay?

Hi @Valerie1170

I don't think it's normal. Most of the time guests know that supplies you have are just to start them off. Guests, especially those who stay longer than five days or so, know to do their own shopping. If your guests are new to Airbnb, they may not know what's expected of them to buy.

I've had a few guests who asked for some extra items because they forgot to pick it up during their grocery store run, but most buy even their own laundry detergent even though I have several brands in the cabinet.

I also have a line in my initial Thank you message that goes out to longer stays that says something like there will be supplies to get you started until you can do your shopping. Btw, we do have a close by grocery store, check the guidebook.

If the stay is five days or less, I just make sure to leave enough coffee and detergent (and of course always TP).

Yesterday, I had guests check in for four nights, I went out of my way to get them different varieties of teas as they mentioned they were tea drinkers, but the wife was really upset that I didn't provide fresh milk!

I told them where the grocery store was. I think maybe you should say something like that, while we are happy to get you started for your 2 week stay, these are things guests are expected to provide for themselves. I'm sure there are better ways of putting that than my clumsy attempt.

Good luck!

Hi @Valerie1170

how are you? When I was new to hosting I used to give just a starter pack of toiletries now depends on number of guests and how many nights they are staying. Like stock of toilet papers, cooking condiments, extra towels etc. so far not getting any complaints but compliments. I live an hour away and I manage my own listings if I will add up my petrol and toll fees back and forth it is wiser to just give my guests what they might need during their stay 😊
