Hi. I’m not a hosts i’m a guest. My friend and I rented a two person air bnb for five nights. It’s a large apartment with a bed and two couches.

We had a third friend who was planning to come but had to cancel her trip, so she is only staying with us one night at the air bnb. I attempted to add her as a third guest but air bnb would not allow me.

I let the hosts know a third person would be staying just one night, and the hosts said they could lose their license if this happened.

The trip is very soon and the air bnb is not refundable, also my friend and I do not want to pay for a three person hotel or air bnb when it will be just the two of us for the whole trip. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks 🙂

Hi @Helena913

If your booking is not refundable, it would probably be a good idea to keep your reservation and to help the 3rd guest find a one-person stay nearby. If I understand correctly, the 3rd guest is the one whose plans have changed, so it sounds like they should be the one to book and pay for the extra accommodation?

I agree with @Shelley159.  I would try and find accommodation nearby for one person.

If the accommodation is advertised for 2 people then that is what it is, even if there is space for more.  We also only can accommodate 2 people although our listing could fit another person, but our insurance only covers us for 2.

Luckily you did the right thing and reached out to the host first and didn't just assume an extra person would be o.k.
