I reserved a rental from a host in Rutherford NJ. She accepted the offer and then she for no good reason cancelled the reservation. She has done this before. One person who had the same experience with her left a review stating that the guest arrived from another country to the rental and was told the host had rented the apartment out to someone else and left this poor women and her family stranded. My question is why is this allowed? Isabelle
When a host cancels a reservation, Airbnb blocks those dates so they are no longer will book anything (nor in control) with that host for those dates. The host's seems to rent out their place privately another way.
I know most hosts on this site do not do what this host did. My question is if this host did this to me and someone else why are they allowed to continue renting out their apartment to others. In a way I should have known better. I read what happened to the other person who had this done to her and her family but I went ahead with renting the place anyway trying to give the host a chance. Never again. Isabelle
Thank you Bob 297 for the information. I do not want to put blame on Airbnb for what the host did. I do not feel comfortable using this service again. I will most likely book at a nice hotel. Isabelle
