Intro and question.

Intro and question.

Hello! I’m a fairly new host in TX. Most of our guests are working on various projects in the area (we’re in the country) I manage the house for my dad who lives 6 hours away. Lovin it so far and already a Super Host!

Question: I noticed on my entry camera the guest taking his luggage etc and leaving today. He still has 9 days left on the reservation. Do I message him to verify that he’s checking out ? I don’t mind giving him money back (if house is in good shape) . But also hope he’s ok.

I sometimes have guests who book a long stay to have a base, and then visit another town for a night or two. I know this because they tell me, but they're under no obligation to do so.

Personally I wouldn't mention this @Debbie1464 - it's not good to give the guest the impression that you're watching his movements, regardless of whether he returns.

Hello @Debbie1464

@Shelley159 take on the situation is spot on and I too have had guests that have used my apartment as a base to then travel around the south of France.  Only found out later in our conversations.

I don't have cameras so am not aware of all the shenanigans that guests may get up to and am thankful in a way - I wouldn't sleep otherwise as I am an over thinker 🤣

If there was an issue with the listing, I'm pretty sure you'll find out soon enough🤞 Did you check-in with them the day after to make sure they had everything they needed?  via Airbnb message?

Congratulations on being a SH already,

Wishing you a good summer seaons

@Joelle43 Thank you! I haven't messaged him yet - will wait another day or two and ask if he needs any supplies etc.

I only have outdoor cameras  - we have groups of workers and sometimes they try to have well over the limit of guests and one brought a dog which isn't allowed so I'm glad I have the cameras.

Basically the stay is paid for so it's no big deal - I just wanted to make sure he's ok and that there's nothing wrong with the house that would cause him to leave. Most likely he simply went to another location to work a different job for a few days.

Thanks for responding!

That's a great idea @Debbie1464 about asking if they need any supplies and can see now how having a camera can be useful if you have groups of workers that use your place.  Maybe someone else will turn up in his place? Hope not.

Let us know the rest of the story though😉

Thank you Paula,

I'm going to message the guest tomorrow to see if he needs any supplies to finish out his week.

Hopefully everything is ok with him as well as the house itself.

Thanks again,

Debbie
