Liability waiver for infant safety

Hello,

We want to stay at a cabin with our friends who have an infant and a toddler.

We got refused a booking because the cabin "is not suitable for children under 2 as the wood stove has no child gate and staircase on the main floor has open risers", which is fair, and it was listed in the safety section of listing.

My friends feel like they can watch their kids, and would be okay to sign a liability waiver.

Is there any way to do propose something like that to the host?

This cabin is really a great fit for us, and there's not a lot of availability in the area for our dates, so we'd rather not look for something else.

Thanks!

@Matthieu285 you can message the host and ask them however I suspect the laws in many countries mean that liability waivers are not worth the paper they are written on.

@Matthieu285   Agree with @Mike-And-Jane0 to message the hosts, but we also cannot except children at our listings because of safety issues, pond, Hot tub etc.  This is also because our insurance would not cover children here, so that might be your hosts position too.

Even if a guest wanted to sign a liability waiver, I still would not be happy accepting them as I would worry an accident could happen.

Why would your friends be happy to put their toddlers safety at risk @Matthieu285  As a parent I can tell you no-one watches their kids 24/7.

Surely the solution is for you to find accommodation that is child friendly.

Yes absolutely you can ask the host but the host is perfectly within their rights to refuse your request. Any liability your friends would sign would be meaningless if there was a claim.

I have a wood stove and a pond and there is no way I would have someone with a toddler stay at my property.
