Message a guest, inviting them to submit a review

We just started at the last of October and have had four good bookings and 3 left wonderful reviews. We have got more bookings made, but we are trying to get all the reviews we can. Our last guest has been sent a message on departure about posting a review, but she still hasn't. I feel she enjoyed her stay because she wrote really nice compliments in the guest book and was very responsive during their stay. Should I send her a personalized AirBnB message asking again for a review?

Hi!

That’s great - it sounds like you’re doing a wonderful job so far, and three great reviews so early on is fantastic progress!

For the guest who hasn’t reviewed yet, I’d avoid sending another message directly asking again. Sometimes guests just forget, and Airbnb also sends its own reminders. Too many nudges can make it feel like pressure.

What you can do is send a short, warm thank-you message, something like:

“It was lovely having you stay - thank you again for your kind words in the guest book! I’ve just left you a review on Airbnb and hope to host you again in the future.”

That gentle reminder often encourages them to leave a review naturally, without you asking outright 😊

Thank you so much! That's a great suggestion. We didn't feel good about requesting one, but we are really trying to build our reviews for booking. It definitely sounds better to put ìt in a gentle reminder and note of appreciation.

Thank you again!

You’re so welcome, @LeeAnn-and-Meleia0

I’m really glad that helped! 😊

Building reviews takes time, but you’re already off to a great start with such positive feedback so early on. Keep offering those small thoughtful touches and quick responses they make a huge difference for guests and reviews naturally follow.

You’re definitely on the right track - keep it up! 🌟

Just to let you know @Akshatha0 , they just posted a fantastic review on Airbnb and also sent me a message! Thank you again!

That’s wonderful news, @LeeAnn-and-Meleia0! 🎉

I’m so happy to hear they left you a fantastic review, what a great way to start building your hosting reputation.

You clearly provide a lovely guest experience, and it’s paying off already. Keep up the amazing work! 😊

@Alex We actually sent the message word for word the message that Akshatha put in quotes (it was worded perfectly!), then added a personal comment specifically to her.

Good afternoon @Akshatha0 , I have a question. I'm new as an Airbnb host and I have a 20% discount active for the first 3 guests. I'm in contact with a potential second guest, but he asked me to send him an invitation, and I'm unsure how to do that. Could someone help me? My pre-approval is active, and I've already pre-approved him. Even though this 20% discount is automatic, what amount should I enter when sending the invitation? Will the 20% discount be applied to that amount?

Hi @Cleo133 👋

Boa tarde! 😊

You’re doing great - it can be confusing the first time, but don’t worry, the process is simple.

When you send a special offer or invitation, the 20% “new-host discount” is automatically applied by Airbnb to the total price the guest sees. You don’t need to add it again manually.

Here’s how you can do it:

1️⃣ Open your Inbox → choose the conversation with the guest.
2️⃣ Click “Send special offer.”
3️⃣ Enter the total price you’d like the guest to pay before Airbnb’s automatic 20% discount.
4️⃣ Airbnb will automatically show the discounted total on the guest’s side when they receive your invitation.

So just enter your regular total amount - Airbnb applies the 20% off automatically for your first three bookings.

You’re handling this really well - once this guest books, you’ll be even more confident for the next ones! 🌟
