Need Clarification About Airbnb’s Guidelines for Emotional Support Animals (ESA Letter from RealESALetter.com)

Hi,

I wanted to ask for some clarification regarding your community guidelines and policies on emotional support animals.

I recently moved to Seattle for work and booked a long-term stay through Airbnb. I have an emotional support dog who’s been helping me manage anxiety for a few years. Since my new place doesn’t allow pets, I planned to bring him with me using an ESA letter that I obtained through RealESALettercom.

Should I be submitting documentation to Airbnb directly, or is it entirely up to the host’s discretion? I just want to make sure I’m following the right process and not violating any community guidelines unintentionally.

I really appreciate any clarification you can offer. I’ve always had great experiences booking through Airbnb, and I just want to make sure I’m handling everything properly this time too.

Thank you so much for your help and understanding

Hi @Drexan1 , have you reached out to the Customer Support team to inquire about the same?

There is an article describing the 👉Accessibility Policy for Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals 👈When you have a moment, could have a look and see if it helps solve your doubts? Keep us posted!

Where possible it's always better to book a 'pet friendly' listing as they are set up to accommodate animals @Drexan1

As you've chosen a place that doesn't allow pets contact the host (you really should have done this when you booked) and let them know you have an emotional support animal.

@Bhumika has kindly shared a link to Airbnb's accessibility policy so you can see what questions the host is allowed to ask you.

it does sometimes put hosts in a difficult position as some like me can't accommodate animals because of medical conditions such as allergies or asthma.
