I’m looking for guidance on how to review this particular guest. Here is some context:
I recently hosted a guest who, in my opinion, may be dealing with mental health challenges. Upon arrival, she shared some wild and concerning stories about her previous host. I initially dismissed them, assuming they were exaggerated.
However, during her stay, things escalated. Around 3:30 a.m., another guest reported that she was being loud, disruptive, using foul language, and even banging on his bedroom door. I immediately contacted Airbnb Support for help. While waiting for assistance, I had a chance to sit down with her to try to understand what was going on. She described things that clearly did not happen — it felt like she was imagining events.
After our conversation, she left the property for a few hours. I stayed up to wait for her return, in part to ensure she didn’t disturb or frighten my other guests, who had already expressed concern about her behavior.
Throughout this period, I was pleading with Airbnb Support to help remove her from the property. After escalation to a specialized team and significant back and forth, Airbnb ultimately altered her reservation and she checked out this morning.
Now I’m trying to understand how to properly leave a review that reflects this experience while remaining within Airbnb’s guidelines. Her profile shows a 4.8-star rating and indicates that she is also a host, yet her behavior did not reflect the professionalism or courtesy I would expect from a fellow host.
One point I want to raise: before accepting her booking, I read through her public reviews and didn’t see any major red flags. However, after she left, I noticed a private comment left by a previous host — something I hadn’t seen earlier. If I had access to that information beforehand, I would never have accepted the booking. My question is: why aren't private comment from previous hosts visible to future host? What is the purpose of making them available after a guest's stay, when they could have helped prevent a negative experience in the first place?
Sorry to hear about this difficult guest . I would mark down to one for communication and then others according to your experience ie cleanliness.
How did you access private information hosts left for guests - this information isn't available publicly. @Thien48
i check all guest reviews when booking and reviews guests have left for other hosts.
@Helen3 On the app, there’s a section called "About", and underneath it, there’s a star rating you can click on to view more details. Sometimes, hosts include additional information in that section. However, I don’t have access to those detailed insights during the booking process. I can only see the overall star rating and public reviews, not the more specific feedback that may have been left privately.
Ah that's not private information from the host that they share directly with guests . @Thien48
That's information that any host can see once you receive a booking.
you can always see host reviews of a guest but you can only see their ratings once a guest books.
Hi @Thien48
Private feedback is sent only to the host vice versa after the stay, so the guest & hosts can share suggestions or issues without it affecting their public reputation.
Airbnb treats private feedback as a conversation between the guest and their previous host not as part of a “reference check”.
