I think it's related to the Alternate Phone number thing. Noticed yestereday several Hosts I work with are now seeing the alternate phone number in the reservation details with the "suggested door code".

This screen shot I posted in my previous post above appears in the message thread when you click the (+) sign. I'm afraid to click it 😂. 

Here's an issue that is coming up with alternate phone numbers. Many local jurisdictions require Hosts to provide their phone number to guests and respond to complaints in a certain time frame. Some require it before arrival. Others require it be posted inside the listing. Using alternate phone numbers is causing an issue for these Hosts, since they may not be in compliance with the regulations. 

Another Host @Geoff7, posted the add phone number adds the Host phone number to the message with guests. Otherwise, I think Airbnb will remove any phone numbers it detects in the message thread now.
