Nicknames???

I received a one night booking late last night, arriving today (I ask for at least one day's notice and  a minimum of 3 nights) on a date immediately before my next arrival (I ask for one day preparation time between bookings). The guest's name is Jake.

When I asked Airbnb to look into it they sent me a picture of the booking - same proflie photo etc. but the guest name John.

Now I feel quite unsafe. Airbnb tells me it's using nicknames. WHY?

They don't allow me to upload the photos, funnily enough.

The only way to "go around" this is to make a rule for your listing that you require a state issued ID or passport for booking.

Airbnb allows nicknames, totally made up names.

It makes zero sense to me, but it is what it is.
