I am very interested in a listing, but I have a question for the host before I book it, but there is no message button anywhere in the flow not even after I click the reserve button before completing it. I’ve never seen this before. How do I work around it or how do I contact the host?
@Sharon2185 have you looked towards the bottom of the 'home page' of the listing. Its usually there before you even start the booking process.
Yes. There is no option anywhere
You don't need to work around anything just use the message host button on the listing @Sharon2185
There isn’t one!
Hi @Sharon2185
I'm following this post, because I really don't know when this happens. Someone once posted the same issue. We tried to think of all the settings that could possibly prevent the "Message host" button from appearing and we couldn't figure it out that time.
I assume the listing you refer to showed up in a search that you performed inside the Airbnb search box, so it's not possible that it's temporarily paused by the host or suspended by Airbnb?
Nope. I booked the Accommodation because I have free cancellation so that I could ask the questions I had and figured I’d cancel it if I didn’t like the answer.
I have never seen the ability to message a host not there and I’ve been using Airbnb for many years.
Try opening the listing from a browser or app and look for “Contact host” or “Ask a question.” If it’s still missing, contact support before booking rather than reserving without getting your question answered.
Airbnb makes it impossible to message directly to the host. They don't provide the host cell number to you, and they don't provide the host your cell number either, so you can't just text them. They say it's for privacy or security issues. You have to go through the airbnb message system.
